The Bachelor of Social Work qualification will provide you with the core professional competencies and attributes required to enter the social workforce.
In doing so, you will be awarded a provisional registration at the level of a beginning practitioner. This is the first step to becoming a fully registered social worker after completing two years of supervised practice. You will develop a range of flexible skills and professional attributes which will position you well to be responsive to and to work collaboratively within the increasingly complex and interdisciplinary social service and health communities.

Graduates will be qualified to work in a range of social work positions in statutory organizations (CYFS, Justice), Health (tertiary, primary and community) and Not for Profit Social Service agencies.
You could have a career in the area of student advocacy, elderly care, at the marae, working with refugee families, at the court, or in the community.

Candidates aged 20 or over who do not meet these entry requirements may be considered for special admission. In such cases entry will be dependent on whether candidates demonstrate a reasonable likelihood of success in the programme.
English language requirements:
Those who have English as an additional language are required to have an International English Language Test System (IELTS) score of 6.5 across all bands or equivalent.
Candidates are required to indicate whether they have been convicted of, or are being prosecuted for, a criminal offence as some types of criminal convictions may limit the ability to secure practicum placements or eligibility for registration as a social worker.
