    Summary

This programme is for you if you are a registered nurse who has a qualification from another country or you were registered in New Zealand but you have been out of nursing for 5 years or more.

Through the programme you will be able to demonstrate your ability to meet the Nursing Council New Zealand's (NCNZ's) competencies for your scope of practice and to obtain a practising certificate to continue your career in nursing. This is a full-time programme delivered over a maximum of twelve weeks consisting of a theory course and a clinical placement course.

    Career opportunities and pathways

Graduates, once they have been issued with a practising certificate by the Nursing Council of New Zealand, are able to practice evidence-based person centred care at a beginning level in a range of clinical settings.

To gain admission to the programme an applicant must be a Registered Nurse, either registered in New Zealand or registered with an overseas authority recognized by the NZNC.
