This programme is designed to give people who already have a degree or extensive business experience an opportunity to extend their knowledge into the field of management without having to complete another degree.
Pursue higher level careers in management. This programme is ideal for you if you are seeking promotion in your existing employment, wish to widen your skill and knowledge base and keep ahead in the knowledge game or if you are considering a career change, including self-employment.
As a graduate of this programme, you will have the ability to think strategically and understand strategic issue facing organizations, develop and implement policy in the areas of operations and general management, and understand costing and financial management processes.
You will also be able to solve problems, both independently and as part of a team and be able to collect, critically review and communicate information effectively in both written and oral form to a wide variety of audiences, including other management experts.
This programme is made up of five core courses, and two elective courses.
Structure & timetable
As part of this programme you will do five core courses:
During your project you can specialise in your chosen field of management. You will be provided with the specialist material. This could be Engineering, Marketing, Logistics and Supply Chain or something else in consultation with your supervisor. Upon successful completion of this programme you will be awarded a Graduate Diploma in Management.
As a graduate of this programme, you will have the ability to think strategically and understand strategic issue facing organizations, develop and implement policy in the areas of operations and general management, and understand costing and financial management processes. You will also be able to solve problems, both independently and as part of a team and be able to collect, critically review and communicate information effectively in both written and oral form to a wide variety of audiences, including other management experts. You can use this qualification to pathway towards roles such as General Manager, Operations Manager, Human Resources Manager or Project Manager across a range of Industries
In your second semester you will complete the Advanced Applied Management course. This course allows you to pursue a research topic of your choice, specializing in your area of interest. For example in:
Or a specific project investigating the management of an organization or an industry.
You will have the opportunity to discuss and develop, with tutorial support, a research topic that best fits your career aspirations.
Applicants must have obtained at least an undergraduate degree in any discipline. OR
Be a mature student aged at least 20 years and supply evidence of at least three (3) years relevant work experience. Each mature applicant must provide their curriculum vitae detailing any relevant work experience and academic achievements. The Programme Area Leader will use this information to assess whether the applicant is likely to successfully complete the Graduate Diploma programme.
English language requirements:
All applicants must have a level of English sufficient to be able to study at this level. Those students whose first language is not English must have:
TOEFL Paper based test (pBT) - Score of 550 (with an essay score of 5 TWE)
TOEFL Internet-based test (iBT) - Score of 60 (with a writing score of 20)
University of Cambridge English Examinations - FCE, or FCE for schools, or CAE, or CPE with a score of 169. No less than 162 in each skill
NZCEL - Level - 4 with the Academic endorsement
Pearson Test PG&OHMJTI (Academic) - PToE (Academic) score of 50
City & Guilds IESOL - B2 Communicator with a score of 66
