    Summary

Science knowledge has more value and impact when people understand it and know how it effects them. At Unitec you can become a qualified scientist as well as learn how to think and work as a communicator. This is an increasingly desirable set of skills in a world ever changing and influenced by science.

    Programme overview

Science knowledge is critically important in solving environmental issues we face as a planet, as communities and as individuals. Science can solve global environmental crises if a large number of people are aware and understand them. This the challenge we are responding to with our Science Communication major. There is a critical need in the industry for science graduates who understand powerful communication in our visual world, and who can use it in their professional practice.

When you study Science Communication at Unitec, you’ll be based in the Environmental and Animal Sciences practice pathway but you’ll also have the opportunity to develop communication skills with the Business Practice and Creative Industries practice pathways. You can choose to learn hands-on media production or communication techniques that will allow you to have a real impact as a practising science professional.
