New Zealand Diploma in Enrolled Nursing (Level 5)

- NCEA Level 2 which is comprised of 60 credits at NCEA Level 2 or above, and 20 credits from any Level; and
- Literacy (10 credits at NCEA Level 1 or above in specified literacy assessment standards); and
- Numeracy (10 credits at NCEA Level 1 or above in specified numeracy assessment standards); or
This programme will allow you to work in a variety of clinical settings as a valued member of the health team. Graduates have the opportunity to register with the Nursing Council of New Zealand and will be able to practice under the delegation of a registered health professional. It provides accessible health education and career development opportunities for those wishing to enter a career in health care or those already employed who wish to develop their career pathway.
What You'll Learn
Students gain knowledge and skills in nursing, social science, and the structure and function of the human body. They will learn skills in simulated learning environments which they then apply on placements in clinical practice. During the programme students will undertake a range of clinical courses in different health care settings including rehabilitation, acute care and mental health.

If you identify as a 毛利 or Pacific Islander you can choose to study in the Tihei Mauri Ora stream. This option allows you to study in a culturally supportive environment and integrates all areas of knowledge from both the western and 毛利 worlds.
Enrolled Nursing (Nēhi Whakauru) provides an opportunity for those wishing to be employed or already employed in health care to gain registration with the NCNZ as an enrolled nurse and develop a career pathway.
Graduates of this programme (who also meet Nursing Council of New Zealand requirements) will be competent to practise as an Enrolled Nurse in a variety of health care settings under the direction and delegation of a Registered Nurse. Graduates of Enrolled Nursing (Nēhi Whakauru) are able to deliver nursing care and health education across the lifespan of health consumers.
On completion of the programme, graduates are eligible to apply to NCNZ to sit the State exam for registration as an Enrolled Nurse. Graduates will have gained a nationally recognised qualification in a sector with strong employment opportunities and career pathways.
